Moving Beyond End-of-Line Spot Checks: How Sanitary Valves Meet New Sealing and Pressure Requirements
Date:2026/10/19

Recently, testing standards for sanitary faucets and flush valves have continued to tighten both domestically and internationally. Sealing performance, pressure resistance, and durability have become core assessment criteria for spot checks and export certifications.

The new European standard, BS EN 12541:2026, was published in April 2026. It targets pressure flush valves for WC pans and urinal flush valves, strengthening the testing requirements for four key areas: leaktightness, pressure performance, mechanical endurance, and acoustic characteristics. It also explicitly specifies pressure-retaining and leakage observation methods. Valve products exported to Europe must align with these updated testing procedures.

Domestically, the revision plan for the mandatory national standard "Safety Technical Specification for Sanitary Faucets with Ceramic Cartridges" was issued at the end of 2025, and its draft for comments completed the public comment period from July to September 2026. It is expected to further tighten indicators such as sealing performance, flow rate, resistance to use load (cartridge lifespan), and metal pollutant precipitation. In recent market supervision spot checks across various regions, leakage and sealing failure are among the most frequent non-conforming items, which can easily lead to customer complaints, returns, and market penalties.

It is widely recognized in the industry that relying solely on end-of-line spot checks is insufficient to fully cover batch quality fluctuations. Manufacturers of faucets, cartridges, solenoid valves, and flush valves are encouraged to embed in-line air tightness and water pressure testing equipment at key production stages. This enables comprehensive testing—including pressure retention, leakage, flow rate, and switch torque—to intercept micro-leakage defects in advance, thereby systematically mitigating the risks associated with export certification and domestic spot checks.
